What I do
The administration of archive collections is at the heart of my work. From initial surveying and listing, to arrangement, description and the production of catalogues to internationally recognised standards. I also offer digitisation project management services, as well as consultancy in information management, archive policy development and digital preservation. I also carry out the capture of objects and the creation of 3D models, using techniques including photogrammetry and structured light scanning.

The most important aspect of any project is understanding why it is needed. My role often starts with exploring the objectives for a project and then helping my client to find the right outputs. A lot of this work involves seeing a project from an audience perspective; assessing if an audience exists already, or whether one can be grown. Often, my role is to be an impartial voice, managing expectations and resolving assumptions, smoothing the way so that all stakeholders understand and accept what a project is trying to achieve, the problem it is intended to solve and how success will be measured.
Balancing resources and costs is also a key part of my work in this field. My role is to help my clients understand how to properly cost a project, how to operate it and, in many cases, work out how to fund it.
